Over time, crystals can become scratched, cracked or clouded, and replacing a damaged crystal is one of the most common watch repairs. Hardlex

Hardlex is Seiko's proprietary mineral crystal, used across much of the brand's range including the popular SKX, SRP and Seiko 5 lines. It offers a strong balance of scratch resistance and shatter resistance, and is more forgiving under impact than sapphire.

Sapphire

Sapphire crystals are used on higher-end Seiko models, including much of the Prospex, Presage and Grand Seiko ranges. Sapphire offers exceptional scratch resistance and clarity, making it the premium choice for many enthusiasts. Replacement sapphire crystals are available for a range of models.

Mineral Glass

Standard mineral crystals are found on many entry-level and vintage Seiko models. They offer good scratch resistance at an accessible price point and are widely available for older references.


Finding the Right Crystal

Selecting the correct crystal depends on the exact model and reference of your Seiko watch. Crystals vary in diameter, thickness, curvature and edge profile, and even small differences affect fit and sealing. Correct gasket fitting and seating are essential to maintain the original water resistance rating.
